Shoulder Arthroscopy

This is a type of surgery that is used to examine or repair the tissues inside or surrounding the shoulder joint. A small tiny camera known as an arthroscope is inserted by making a small incision. The surgery is recommended to treat the painful condition of the shoulder that does not respond to nonsurgical treatment. The various treatments included under this are rest, pain medications, physical therapy, and injection that can decrease the inflammation and allow for healing of the injured tissues of the shoulder. This is important because inflammation leads to stiffness, swelling, and excessive pain in the shoulder.

The most common reasons for shoulder-related problems are age-related wear and tear, severe injury, and overuse of the shoulder joint. The shoulder arthroscopy is beneficial in relieving the painful symptoms of various problems that can damage important parts of the shoulder such as articular cartilage, rotator cuff tendons, labrum, and the other soft tissues that surround the joint. Shoulder Dislocation

This is one of the most common forms of joint dislocation. A shoulder is said to be dislocated when the top of the humerus moves out of its usual location in the shoulder joint. The dislocation can also occur when the arm is twisted, pulled, or moved with extreme force in an opposite direction. It can be a backward, outward, or upward direction. The condition can be classified into three kinds of dislocation such as anterior, posterior, and inferior dislocation. The major symptoms include intense shoulder pain, limited movement of the shoulder, bruising or abrasions if the injury is severe.

Shoulder Arthroscopy is considered to be an effective treatment for a dislocated shoulder. The surgery treats the stretched, torn, and tight tendons or ligaments. It is also used for repairing torn labrum, the cartilage ring that is surrounding the ball, and the socket joint. This keeps the humerus in place. The primary objective of the surgery is to tighten and repair the soft tissues. The surgery involves small incisions and thus, there is minimum damage to the surrounding tissues.

Rotator Cuff Tear

This is an extremely painful condition that can make a person disable. The treatment depends on the severity of the symptoms which mainly include sudden onset of shoulder pain. Sometimes the pain arises out of any trauma injury but at times it might occur gradually. Shoulder arthroscopy is an effective way to treat rotator cuff tears. The arthroscope can be used for evaluating the entire shoulder joint and the tear can be fixed by making a small incision with the help of special devices and instruments.

Although this surgical method is not considered suitable for large tears. But it is because it provides a better and clear view of the tear and thus, they can be repaired for restoring the normal functioning of the and painless motion of the infected shoulder.
